Patients with COVID-19 have reported experiencing smell loss.  In some cases, such loss may occur before the onset of other symptoms.  The British Association of Otorhinolaryngology (BAO) has called on the authorities to advise anyone experiencing smell or taste loss to self-isolate, and the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, has suggested that sudden smell loss should be one criterion for identifying patients with this disease.  Sensonics International is increasing its manufacturing capability of sanitary and disposable one-use brief and inexpensive scratch and sniff smell tests, such as the NHANES pocket smell test, for the medical community to aid in the identification of potential carriers of COVID-19.  These tests are shipped in lots of 100 and will be discounted 10% for the next two weeks.  Information is available at www.sensonics.com.
